This Weekend: Made in Connecticut Fair

If the rain is keeping you in the house and you are starting to get stir-crazy, come out on Sunday, September 25th and visit Best Buddy Biscuits at the 5th Annual Made in Connecticut Fair in Oxford, Connecticut.  From 10:00am to 4:00pm, there will be tons of crafts and food, and all products are either grown or handmade in the state.  Admission for adults is $2.  We’ll be there with a large variety of biscuits, cat treats and, of course, beef jerky, so please stop by.  We’d love to see you!

Fair grounds are located at The Colonial Tavern, 24 Hawley Lane, Oxford, CT.

Kitty Scans

I’m loving this tumblr called The Cat Scan, which features photos that people send in of their cats standing on scanners.  The pictures are taken from under the kitties so you can usually see all four paws and sometimes a cute, furry face looking down.  Our favorite image of a cat named Millie is above.  Would your cat or dog stay put on a computer scanner long enough to take a picture?

Saturday, September 17th: 4th Annual Bark in the Park, Norwalk, CT

Best Buddy was delighted to be invited to the 4th Annual Bark in the Park, sponsored by PAWS, an incredible organization that provides homes, food and medical care to homeless and abandoned animals.  The event will take place from 11:00am to 3:00pm at Cranbury Park, 300 Grumman Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut, and all of the proceeds from this event will benefit these animals in need.  Last year, PAWS raised $40,000 and their goal this year is $50,000! The day starts with a dog walk/parade (last year, there were 130 walkers!) and after that, there will be approximately 25 vendors, silent auctions, food vendors, etc.  We think this is going to be a really great day and a very worthwhile event.  If you are interested in registering for the dog walk or cat photo contest, please check out the official Bark in the Park webpage.  Bring your dog and join the festivities!

Books for Dog Lovers

In honor of Responsible Dog Owner Month, Barnes and Noble has listed three best-selling books that dog lovers will love.  These great selections all celebrate the greatness of pups as loyal furry friends.  I’m especially excited about I’m Not the Biggest Bitch in This Relationship, which is a collection of short essays by well-known chick-lit authors (like Jane Green) and comediennes (like Chesea Handler).

Do any of these books look good to you? And do you have any favorite pet-lover books?

50 Dogs at 50 Miles Per Hour

Is there anything funnier than this compilation of 50 dogs sticking their heads out of car windows? All pups just love the wind in their fur!  A few of my favorites:

People look like their Pets, Right?

A new organization in New Zealand is taking a whole new approach to finding homes for dogs.  Doggelganger has users upload a picture of themselves and then pairs them with a dog that looks like them using  facial recognition software.  What a creative spin on the pet adoption process!  As of now, this service is only available in New Zealand, but if it proves popular, I’m sure that agencies in the United States will try it out too.

Would you ever consider using a service like Doggelganger? And do you think people look like their pets?!
